W H Smith take on Amazon and the Kindle problem

W H Smiths have decided to take on giant, Amazon by making all of their eBooks half price:

High street retailers have become increasingly competitive with e-book pricing since Amazon announced it would launch its Kindle e-book reader in the UK on 27th August." The Bookseller

Amazon UK have been taken by surprise with the demand for the new Kindle in the UK and are currently waiting for stock to honour pre-orders for the device. I ordered my own Kindle over a fortnight ago and despite being initially told I would have it on the 17th August, I now have no real idea of when I will get the Kindle. September is the most likely estimate from Amazon.
