Crikey issue 12 £4.99

This is the first time I've seen this magazine - I've always fancied taking a look as I've seen it mentioned on some of the blogs I read. However until the last issue it didn't really have that much of a distribution deal and could only largely be purchased at specialist comic shops or via mail order. However it's now on sale in Borders and other mainstream suppliers.

The current issue -no 12-weighs in at a hefty 86 pages, with much of it being in full colour so the £4.99 price didn't seem too bad.

Inside it's packed with articles on British comics of the past - I was impressed by the contents and found it was totally accessible and whilst knowledgeable about its subject it is not too fanboyish.

There's an interview with comics god, Pat Mills as well as a feature on his long running strip for Battle, D-Day Dawson. An article on Marvel UK and a great piece that looks at the strange plots used by comics in the past. Add to that reviews, features on Doctor Who, The Persuaders and...well, basically too much to list here.

If you're at all interested in British comics then you'll love this magazine.
