TRUE BRIT
Commando: True Brit
Edited by George Low
Carlton Books £14.99
Billed as the 12 toughest Commando comic books ever!
It's certainly a solid enough collection with stories covering most of the major theatres from the second world war. There are stories set in the air, at sea and on land.
As a kid I only occasionally read the Commando books, preferring my weekly war comic, Battle so I was glad to see these wonderfully bound collections.
Gripping nostalgia for anyone who grew up in the seventies/eighties. Great storytelling for anyone else.
Well worth buying.

And with a collection of 'Battle' stories coming along and the release, in October, of a similar collection of Western Picture Library comics called 'High Noon' from the same publishers nostalgia takes on a refreshingly new meaning.
We've just started to pick up the Commando books so that the hundreds of originals can be preserved.
Didn't know about the High Noon one - I'll be getting that.
